Lake County is one of the 64 counties of Colorado. As of the 2010 census, the population was 7,310. The county seat, and only municipality in the county is Leadville. A few notable locations are Buffalo Peaks Wilderness, the Top of the Rockies National Scenic Byway, and the summit of Mount Elbert at 14,440 feet in elevation (the highest natural point in the Rocky mountains).
