Dinosaurs are a diverse group of reptiles that existed between 247 and 66 million years ago. At 66 million years ago, half of the species living on Earth became extinct during the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event. Though they’re extinct, we are able to study them using the mineralized bones, eggs, and other traces that they have left behind. These artifacts are known as fossils.
