Ouray

Ouray County is one of the 64 counties of Colorado. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,436. The county seat is Ouray. Because of its rugged mountain topography, Ouray County is also known as the Switzerland of America. Notable locations include Uncompahgre National Forest, Mount Sneffels Wilderness, and Alpine Loop National Scenic back Country Byway. Minerals such as galena, molybdenite-pyrite, gold, and the Colorado State mineral, rhodochrosite, have been mined in Ouray County.
