In 1914, the first comprehensive bibliography, CGS Bulletin 7, was published. With the exception of a series of Colorado School of Mines quarterlies and circulars compiled in the 1920’s by J. Harlan Johnson, no comprehensive supplement to B-7 had appeared.
This Bulletin 37 contains more than 12,000 references to Colorado geological literature published between 1875 and January 1, 1975. Its publication was a cooperative effort between American Geological Institute (AGI) of Falls Church, Virginia and the Colorado Geological Survey. This bibliography was compiled by the AGI, utilizing its computer-based data collection system, GeoRef.
Note that B-37 was followed by a 5-year supplement: Bulletin 45 “Bibliography and Index of Colorado Geology: 1975-1980”. B-45 contains 3,756 citations to literature published from 1975 through 1980, including some published before 1975 but inadvertently omitted from B-37.
