Description

The purpose of the CGS Open File Report 05-02, Geologic Map of the Castle Rock North Quadrangle, Douglas County, Colorado is to describe the geologic setting and mineral resource potential of this 7.5-minute quadrangle located in central Colorado. (1:24,000). Digital ZIP/PDF download. OF-05-02D

From the author’s notes:

The Castle Rock North 7.5-minute quadrangle is located immediately north of Castle Rock, Colorado, in the southern part of the Colorado Piedmont section of the Great Plains. The quadrangle is located in the Cherry Creek and Plum Creek drainage basins, which are tributary to the South Platte River. Geologic mapping of the Castle Rock North quadrangle was undertaken by the CGS as part of the STATEMAP component of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program. Geologic maps produced within the STATEMAP program are intended as multi-purpose maps useful for land-use planning, geotechnical engineering, geologic hazards assessment, mineral resource development, and ground-water evaluation.
